Lund & Blockley Power Reserve Pocket Watch
Antique English pocket watch with a power reserve indicator made by Lund & Blockley.
Lund & Blockley was founded in 1872 by George Lund and Herbert Blockley. George Lund was the son of John Richard Lund, well-known as the partner of the Barraud family in Barraud & Lund. Lund & Blockley were located at 42 Pall Mall, London untill 1889 when their partnership ended. In the short period of their existence they received a royal warrant as watchmakers "To the Queen".
Our pocket watch was made around 1875. It is a beautiful pocket watch made in the typical English style of those days. The movement has a power reserve indicator. A rare complication which only can be found in the best watch movements. Both movement as dial have been signed with the number 2/775. This means that it is a grade 2 watch movement and has serial number 775. The movement runs great and also the power reserve indicator is working very well.
Originally this pocket watch had an 18k gold case. This case may have been damaged, or it was simply melted down for its gold value in the 1920s. Either way the case has been replaced by a beautiful silver case made by the Dennison Watch Case Co in 1923.
The condition of the watch is very good. There are only some small hairline cracks visible in the dial and some small wear around the opening of the back-lid.
The diameter of this pocket watch is 55 mm and the weight is 123 grams.
