Large Antique Mariners Single Drawer Telescope
Large antique telescope from the Dutch company E.R. Seckel & Co, Rotterdam.
The telescope is made of brass and has gained a beautiful patina during the years. The lenses seem clear, but the image is not very sharp. Both the oculair and the objective lense have protectors. The size of the telescope is impressive: The maximum length is 107 cm. (42"), and folded it is 61 cm (24"). The outside diameter of the objective lense is 6.5 cm and the weight is 1.6 kgs.
E.R. Seckel & Co was a well-known producer and supplier of nautical instruments.like sextants, chronometers, telescopes etc. They operated in Rotterdam from the middle of the 19th century until the 1st quarter of the 20th.
