Hamilton Model 21 Marine Chronometer WWII-Period
Vintage WWII era Hamilton Model 21 marine chronometer. Made in Lancaster, PA, U.S.A in 1941. All original and complete with original box and travel box with leather strapping.
This chronometer was developed for the US Navy who were facing navigational problems in the beginning of WWll. They needed accurate timepieces to determine their positions at sea. The Hamilton company found a way to mass-produce their chronometers, who were untill that time only being hand-made.
The chronometer is in a very good condition, it is running very well. Unfortunately the service history is unknown. There's a sticker near the dial "overhaul due apr 1971". I hope that wasn't of it's last service.
