Stauffer-Nicolet Chronograph Pocket Watch
Rare chronograph pocket watch with a beautiful Stauffer-Nicolet movement.
The Stauffer watch company was founded in 1830 in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, The cooperation with the Nicolet watchmaking family started in 1874 when Charles Nicolet formed a partnership with Francis Claude Stauffer. After the death of Francis Claude in 1879 Charles Nicolet obtained full control of the Stauffer company, which was later renamed Nicolet fils & cie in 1890.
Our chronograph pocket watch was made around 1890. It features an anti-clockwise minute counter and a lever-set mechanism for setting the hands. The case of the watch is made of gunmetal which indicates that this pocket was probably was made for professional use. The initials RZ or ZR are in gold on the back of the watch.
The condition of the watch is very good. There is some ageing or patina on the watch case, but no damages. The glass has a couple of small chips on the edge.
The movement runs great and also all the chrongraph functions are working very well.
The diameter of this chronograph is 55 mm and the weight is 135 grams.
