Resin Hourglass Timer Sculpture After Pierre Giraudon 1970's

€395,00

Vintage Hourglass Sculpture made by or after Pierre Giraudon in the 1970's.

Pierre Giraudon (1923-2012) was a French botanist and biologist. His first goal as designer was to make the plant and animal world accessible to everyone. From the 1960's he started working with resin, and untill the 1980's he created sculptures and other objects in resin. He didn't see himself as an artist and only rarely he signed his creations. Therefore it is hard or impossible to determine if an object was made by or after Pierre Giraudon.

This sculpture is made of an hourglass which was fully embedded in resin. After the hardening of the resin the sculpture was polished to obtain the sharp edges. The condition is good, there is a little chip on one edge, there are some scratches on top and bottom and also the resin has aged slightly. It has turned a bit yellowish.

The height of the sculpture is 23.8 cm. and the base is 8.8 x 8.4 cm. The weight is 1850 grams!
