French Ship's Telegraph A. Métayer Paris
Beautiful early 20th century ship's telegraph made by the French marine instruments maker A. Métayer.
The telegraph is in an original used condition, it has a lot of patina and some parts may be missing. So please take a good look at the photos for a good overview.
The company A. Métayer was a manufacturer of marine instruments, it was founded around 1780 in Paris. They were active till the 1950's. They produced ship's telegraphs from the late 19th until the mid-20th century, due to the arise of the large steamships a direct communication between the bridge and engine room became necessary.

It is completely made of heavy brass. The interaction between the bridge and engine room is with steel cables.
The telegraph has only a dial on one side, not sure if there was a dial on the return side.XXXXX
