Beautiful bronze sculpture of a stretching dog (dogue s'étirant) by the French sculptor Emmanuel Frémiet from around 1880.
The sculpture depicts a dog stretching his body in great detail.

Emmanuel Frémiet (1824-1910) was a famous sculptor from the 19th century. He made very large sculptures in commision, f.e. for the Tuileries Gardens in Paris and many musea and he made smaller sculptures of animals and people. He had studied the anatomy of the animals extensively since his teen-years, so he was a master in sculpting every creature very true to nature. In 1875 he succeeded Antoine Louis Barye as professor at the Museum of Natural History in Paris.
Probably his most famous work is the statue of Jeanne d'Arc at the Place des Pyramides in Paris. Nowadays his work is very sought-after by collectors worldwide.

The sculpture I'm presenting here is a cast by Charles More who casted many of Frémiets small animal sculptures. It is numbered 256.
The condition is very good.
Please take a good look at the photos for a good impression!

The height of the sculpture is around 9 cm, the width 19 cm and the depth is 5.4 cm.
The weight is 774 grams.
