Beautiful antique sculpture of a whippet in its caracteristic pose on a white marble base. 
The sculpture is made of bronze. The whippet is depicted in great detail as can be seen on the photos.
 It was made in the 19th century by the French sculptor Pierre-Jules Mene or by one of his succesors, f.e. his son-in-law Auguste Cain who produced his sculptures in the highest quality after PJ Mene's death in 1877 until around 1894 when Cain himself died.
Usually these sculptures were signed at the base. However in this case the bronze base has been replaced by a marble one, so the signature is missing. Therefore hard to tell the exact maker.
The condition is very good, there's only a small repair of the tail visible.

The height of the dog is around 12.5 cm, the length 15 cm and the width 4.5 cm. (measured without the base). With base the dimensions are 14 x 22 x 13.5 cm.
The total weight is 2.0 kg.
